While the Earth Sleeps
An unforgettable moment as the aurora borealis lit the night sky over this frozen lake in the early morning hours in Canada's far north.
Wild Alaska
The jagged icy peaks of Alaska's Chugach Mountains emerge from the clouds, photographed from high above.
The Ghost
A unique formation in the sacred canyons at the edge of Arizona’s painted desert.
Earth Dances
The diagonals of the surf from an incoming tide complement an amazing sunset on the Olympic Coast.
Endless Beauty

Spring in the Ancients
Sunbeams burst through trees of this old growth forest with cascading natural springs, as the sun rises in early spring.
Eternity
Los Cuernos del Paine peaks through low clouds illuminated by the rising sun on a foggy morning.

Exodus
Two 12,000 foot peaks in the eastern Alaska Range framed by a grove of wildflowers at sunset.
Fractured
A gem of the Olympic Peninsula, Rialto beach has many such sea stacks rising from its depths. One particularly photogenic spire collapsed within the last year. The remnants from its collapse are now being interred by the sea. This particular evening, an incoming tide produced beautiful cascades across its fractured remains.
Mezzanotte
Wildflowers on a 5000 ft. ridge across this glaciated valley in the wilderness of the eastern Alaska Range. I photographed this scene at sunset (around midnight), then hiked back to camp to be ready for a 4 a.m. sunrise!

Above and Beyond
Cloud streaks rendered by a long exposure as the pre-dawn light filters through the canyon walls in Arizona.
Interlude
A lenticular cloud forms over this unnamed jagged peak in the late afternoon.
Autumn Revealed
A small grove of pond cypress emerge from the morning fog just after sunrise, dressed in fall color.
Subzero
These leading lines created by freezing conditions and snowdrift just under the surface of a frozen lakeshore provide the perfect foreground to an explosive display of aurora in the sky. With wind chill, the temperature was near -15F at night.
Sundial
I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to witness this breathtaking sunrise over one of the most unusual landscapes in the world.
